If I remember correctly the main problem was, with all i/o's enabled the main outs stopped working and instead outs 1&2 became the main outs. In the end I gave up and bought DP7 which was just then released. I can't remember exactly what I tried other than I messed about for days trying to get it to work. It was a few years back when I was using Logic 8 on a G5. Have you tried aggregating the motus and use it in Logic?Do you mean setting up the MOTU's as an aggregate device? It's entirely likely that DP8, when it is released, will become my all-in-one DAW, but that notwithstanding I expect to still have work for S1. DP is, IMO, much better suited to composing for video than, say Logic 9, connects seamlessly to my MCU's, imports/exports in OMF, and has a score feature. This will though be addressed with the soon-to-be-released DP8, which was announced back in January. IMO though, said development will probably depend on where Presonus see their market.ĭP on the other hand is a professional, fully-featured DAW with a long development history, & whose only drawback at the moment is that it's not 64bit. I have the feeling the developers took the best features out of Cubase & Logic and put them into one DAW? I find it very quick and intuitive to work with and think that in a couple of years, IF Presonus continues to develop it, S1 will be a major player in the DAW market. The bundled plugins are very usable and audio editing is a breeze. Having said that though, the features S1 has are really great. There are though still some issues/required features Presonus needs to look at before it becomes, for me at least, suitable for both writing & mixing, particularly when scoring for film. Apart from the lack of OMF import, I work faster in S1. Since purchasing S1, I still compose in Logic but tend now to mix in S1, which also has no problems with the MOTU interfaces.

This was mainly because Logic is 64bit but DP interfaces seamlessly with my 3 MOTU interfaces (I mix hybrid), something that Logic does not do.

Prior to buying S1, I composed & tracked in Logic and mixed in DP.

I have and use both DP7 & S1-2, plus Logic Pro 9. If you had to choose between the two, which one would you pick?I think the answer depends on what you wanna do with it? It's really a matter of "horses for courses."īy this I mean are you using it for writing, recording & self-releasing your own music do you use large sample libraries do you compose for film do you need to import/export in OMF etc.
